Primary School Competition – Science Week 2018
To celebrate Science Week 2018 which runs from 11-18 November 2018, the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark is holding a competition for primary schools.
We are asking school classes to create a 2D or 3D model demonstrating how solutional caves such as Marble Arch Caves form, or else displaying key features of a limestone cave (e.g. stalactites). Why not incorporate our Make-A-Cave experiment into your teaching to aid understanding of cave formation and help generate ideas for model making? We have included classroom resources for this experiment and information on bringing this content into your classroom in our information pack.
The classes with the best models will win a school trip to the Marble Arch Caves, including an educational tour of the stunning showcave and a choice of interactive educational workshop for their class (terms and conditions apply). The closing date for the competition is Friday 14 December at 4pm and the models will be judged by an expert panel.
Entry details, teaching resources and T&C’s are attached in the information pack. To register or more information contact Helen on firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 02866348855 from NI or 04866348855 from RoI.
